Have Fun! Meet Great Folks! Volunteer for the Rodeo!
The BGR Association is once more on its annual search for enough volunteers to staff the 2017 edition of the largest event in Leduc; the Black Gold Rodeo and Trade Fair. This immensely popular weekend of equine entertainment attracts thousands of people from near and far. In fact, this celebration of horsemanship is so well attended, it requires hundreds of volunteers to ensure a good time is had by all.
What Do Volunteers Do?
Volunteers are counted on to staff information tables, put up posters, distribute flyers and help out in the myriad details that need doing during the rodeo. Of particular interest to the rodeo association are young people with strong legs for crowd sales of 50/50 tickets. Volunteering with the BGR is fun and rewarding, which is why some of our dedicated volunteers have been with us for decades. Unfortunately, the jobs that entail running around the arena are a little tougher for the long-timers to fill, which is why the young folks are so welcome.
What Do Volunteers Get Out Of It?
How is volunteering for the BGR rewarding? Besides free entry to the rodeo, a free meal while on shift, and numerous "volunteer recognition" events and initiatives, BGR volunteers also get "The Volunteer Glow". The Glow is a sensation of great warmth and satisfaction which you feel inside from making a positive difference in the lives of your fellow citizens. Anyone who has ever volunteered for their community in any capacity is likely familiar with the Glow.
